SETTLEMENT DOCUMENTARY
Referred to by most attorneys as
“Settlement Brochures”

           Ninety-Five percent of all the lawsuits filed never go to trial.  They will settle out of court during the discovery phase or by “plea bargaining” prior to trial.  We as Professional Legal Videographers,  have raised the bar on the nomenclature of this type of video production by calling it a “documentary” rather than a “brochure”. 

           A Settlement Documentary is a concise summation of a case - usually produced on behalf of a plaintiff.  The final presentation is 10 to 20 minutes long and resembles a presentation that you would see on 60 Minutes or 20/20.  The objective is to get the defense and insurance company to fully comprehend the pain and suffering that results from their negligence, malpractice or product liability.  The presentation typically covers liability and damages and is presented during a settlement conference or mediation.

           These types of Documentaries will never see the light of day in a courtroom.  It is produced specifically to impress the opposing party that they don’t have a tinker’s chance to win this case if it does go to trial.  This simply means that there are absolutely no restrictions whatsoever on the content or form that this document takes.  This type of documentary my use professional voice-overs, background music, scripts for the narrators, video clips of similar scenes, professional actors.
